Wedding Shoe Envy

These days more and more focus is being put on the wedding shoes...although you can't go wrong with traditional colors like white or off white, but why not make an understated statement with some unconventional colors, that are sure to be a crowd pleaser. Be careful when choosing colored shoes, you want to make sure your dress is long enough so it doesn't take the focus away from you and your dress. Just a slight peep of color is enough to leave the rest to there imaginations! So be the envy of the party with these great shoes below, which can be found on http://www.nordstroms.com/

Also buy small burlap potato bags and fill them with organic fair-trade coffee for the perfect Eco wedding favors. Or how about lavender filled burlap sachets for the bridesmaids, a sweet way to say thank you.

Celebrate Earth Day in Style...

Earth Day is a day to give back to Mother Nature for all her wonders. So why not celebrate in style like any other holiday and throw a Green party?? What's a green party you may ask, well in my opinion its putting the Eco-chic in loving earth and making an environmental step in the right direction. Here are some ways to throw your Eco-chic party:
  • Turn the lights down or off and set the mood with some candles, not only aromatic and energy saving, but also money saving!
  • Decorate your house in Green and woodsy colors or anything that has to do with nature, using empty wine bottles to place flowers or herbs in(locally grown). I also love the idea of incorporating bamboo serving trays and containers, since its a natural renewable resource.
  • Try to prepare fresh easy meals, that don't require too much energy or your valuable time.
  • Serve organic wine and flavored organic beer.
  • Have guests write down a "Green Tip" and have the guests share there ideas, getting people to mingle and learn something!
  • Purchase reusubale grocery bags and tie a ribbon around it and attach a packet of seeds as a great and cheap gift for guests to take home.
  • Biter Margarita
    Serves 1

    Ingredients:
    (local and organic whenever possible)

    • 2 oz Casa Noble certified organic tequila
    • 1.5 oz Madhava Light Agave Nectar (liquid sweetness tapped from the agave cactus)
    • 1 oz organic lime juice (get limes from your local farmers market)
    • Splash of club soda (make your own and avoid the plastic bottles)
    Organic sugar or salt

    Directions:

Rub the rim of your recycled margarita glass with lime juice, and dip it in sugar or salt. Put the rest of the ingredients in a mixer and shake 'em up, then pour straight into glasses or over ice.

Who gets married in this economy?

I do! As I prepare to say those words come August, I hit a quick realization that getting married in this economy might have been a bad idea. That is until I found out that I know at least five other women doing the same thing and probably thousands more...are we crazy in love? Or are we so comsumed about the idea of getting married that we forget about the world around us and this declining economy? In my case it's a little of everything, if I didn't have this wedding to plan, I think I would be borderline losing my mind in these tough times, the only thing that gets me through it is... why love of course? I would like to think so, but I am more obsessed with the idea of broadcasting my creativity, eye for detail, and of course myself to all 200 of my family and friends and of course the happily ever after part....which I like to call the honeymoon. Yet I find it hard to fathom as people are getting laid off left and right and here I am contently planning away at my $30,0000 wedding(eco of course), am I doing the right thing I tend to ask myself... and the asnwer is always yes! If not now then when, there is no right time to spend massive amounts of money, why not have something positive to look forward, in the end I am learning a lot about myself and the man I am marrying. If we can make it through this, then we can certainly make it through anything!
